A citizen or permanent resident of Canada, 18 years of age or older, may be able to sponsor a spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner, dependent child, relative, parent, grandparent or any adopted children to become a permanent resident. First the citizen or permanent resident has to be approved as a sponsor. Following this, the person to be sponsored creates an online account to continue their permanent residence application. The sponsor is responsible for supporting the applicant financially when they arrive.
Super Visas
Parents and grandparents can also avail of Super Visas which are multiple-entry visas (valid for 10 years) allowing them to stay in Canada for up to 2 years at a time.
